11/12/2021 - Oil Spill on Australian Avenue

Update (Nov. 12, 2021) - Australian Avenue has been reopened. A third party vendor has completed the clean up and all drains have been checked.

OIL SPILL IN RIVIERA BEACH ON AUSTRALIAN AVENUE.


RIVIERA BEACH, FL. (Nov. 12, 2021) – The City is responding to an accidental oil spill caused by two trucks that were heading southbound on Australian Avenue. The incident took place early this morning and the City of Riviera Beach Fire and Police Department responded. The City is working with partnering agencies that includes the Palm Beach County Risk Management Department to assess the situation.


The incident took place in front of Lincoln Elementary and the Old Dominion Freight Line. The road is currently closed off at 13th Street and 10th Street.


Drivers heading southbound can take a detour through a U-Turn near Lincoln Elementary, 1160 Ave N, Riviera Beach, FL, 33404.
Sandbags were put in place to prevent any run-off into storm drains. A third party is cleaning up the spill and should be done by approximately 6 p.m. tonight, weather permitting.
