FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE:
RIVIERA BEACH POLICE DEPARTMENT HOSTING ANNUAL ‘SHOP WITH A COP’
RIVIERA BEACH, FL. (Dec. 14, 2022) – The Riviera Beach Police Department is hosting its
annual “Shop with a Cop” event so students have a chance to spend time with police officers to
change their perception of law enforcement as they purchase items on their Christmas list.
This year, more than 15 students from Washington Elementary will take part in this special
shopping experience at Wal-Mart, 101 N. Congress Ave. in Lake Park, on Dec. 16 from 8:30
a.m. to 12:30 p.m.
Why is “Shop with a Cop” so important? Because it’s about, “Bridging the gap between Police
Officers and the community’s children,” Riviera Police Chief Joshua Lewis said.
The shopping event helps strengthen the relationship with youth and law enforcement as
officers help children shop in the store for items on their wish list. Many of the selfless children
buy gifts for family members and very few purchase presents for themselves. After shopping,
the children will enjoy lunch with officers.
