NATIONAL POETRY MONTH YOUTH SUMMIT GIVES STUDENTS THE CHANCE TO WIN A COLLEGE SCHOLARSHIP

(RIVIERA BEACH, FL. (April 10, 2023) – Do you know any middle and high school students who are interested in spoken word, poetry, and creative writing? On Saturday, April 15, 2023 The City of Riviera Beach Parks and Recreation is partnering with the creators of the National Poetry Festival with the purpose of empowering and motivating the youth to find their talent through spoken word and creative writing. 6th to 12th grade students are invited to attend the FREE National Poetry Month Youth Summit to learn public speaking skills, memorization techniques, and how to perform on stage. Plus, the winner of the 15th season of ‘America’s Got Talent,’ spoken word poet, educator, and motivational speaker Brandon Leake will be in attendance as the keynote speaker!

There will be a small poetry showcase of selected students where one lucky winner will win $1,000 in college scholarship and the runner up will earn $250. Students will attend all-day workshops with several notable facilitators and be provided a free lunch. Most importantly, they’ll be exposed to a positive mental health outlet.
