6/9/2023 - Riviera Beach Police Address Several Issues at Avenue E Corridor
FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE: RIVIERA BEACH POLICE ADDRESS SEVERAL ISSUES AT AVENUE “E” CORRIDOR RIVIERA BEACH, FL. (June 9, 2023) –The community has expressed their concerns and complaints about the Avenue "E" corridor. From loitering, drug dealing, prostitution to drinking in public, the quality of life issues here are unacceptable. We take these issues seriously and believe that everyone deserves a safe and secure community. The Riviera Beach Police Department is proud to announce the initiation of a multi-prong operation aimed at addressing the issues along the Avenue "E" corridor, which were broken up into four different phases. The first phase of this operation was assessing and identifying the convenience stores and determining the validity of the allegations brought forward. As a result, the VICE unit conducted a drug investigation in all convenience stores in the area and multiple drug purchases were conducted. The Division of Alcoholic Beverages and Tobacco (ABT) in conjunction with The RBPD initiated an investigation on illegal alcohol sales at the Kwik Stop on 101 W. Blue Heron BLVD. They learned the store clerk sold alcohol to a minor, and was arrested on scene. As a result of this investigation, the VICE Unit obtained search warrants for the above pictured businesses. On Thursday, June 8, 2023, The VICE Unit, with the assistance of the S.I.D. Units (Detectives, Canine, A.C.E. Unit, & Crime Scene), RBPD SWAT, RBPD Communications, Palm Beach Gardens PD SWAT, Rivera Beach Fire Dept, Code Enforcement, Riviera Building Officials, Florida A.B.T. (Alcohol, beverage, & tobacco), and The U.S. Department of Homeland Security executed the Search Warrant phase of this Operation. The second phase targeted the known drug dealers along the Avenue “E” corridor. This phase with the investigation resulted in probable cause for four known drug dealers. Also, on Wednesday, June 7, 2023 around the evening hours, the RBPD Vice Unit executed a single-phase prostitution sting with the assistance of the RBPD Ace Unit, which was the third phase. The Riviera Beach Police Department received several complaints from residents and the Patrol Division concerning prostitution activity on the Broadway and Avenue E corridor. Based on the complaints, the VICE Unit, under the direction of the S.I.D Command Staff, initiated an undercover Prostitution Operation to address the issue. With the assistance of Officers from the ACE Team, the VICE Unit arrested the five subjects listed above for Prostitution contrary to Florida State law. Concerning the arrestees, we charged three of the five defendants with Felony Prostitution due to previous convictions for the same offense. The fourth and final phase included initiating chronic nuisance abatement proceedings of the four convenient stores. The following below was the outcome of our investigation: ? Kwik Stop, located at 101 West Blue Heron Boulevard. ? Nine FL ABT Violations. ? Four Code Enforcement Violations. ? Store cook Baldomero Cruz (h/m, 12/18/1962) arrested by Border Patrol (Illegal Alien). ? Yassir Food Market, located at 2300 Avenue E. ? Fifteen FL ABT Violations. ? Four Fire Safety Violations. ? ACE Unit recovered firearm from patron. Arrest pending DNA results. Suspect Wayne J. Wynds (other/m, 01-17-1966). ? Mid-Town Food Market, located at 115 West 19th ? Six FL ABT Violations. ? Numerous Code Enforcement and building violations. ? Recovered Stolen firearm and Marijuana discovered in store clerk area behind the counter. ? Store clerk Ahmend Omar (other/m, 03-11-1970) arrested by Border patrol (Illegal Alien). ? Drug dealer Alexis Crockett (b/f, 01-28-1985) arrested for Sale of Cocaine (Agent direct). ? Drug dealer Matthew Gaines (b/m, 09-28-1981) arrested for Sale of Cocaine (Agent direct). ? Building Official Bo Richards issued violation under Section 22-35 of the City Code, which deemed the premises unsafe for human occupancy. The store was closed down immediately. ? Avenue E Market, located at 1361 Avenue E. ? This location received one code enforcement violation. The Health Department will conduct a follow-up inspection of all stores next week.
