1/6/2024 - Riviera Beach Heights Community Clean-up
RIVIERA BEACH POLICE MAJOR LEADS INITIATIVE TO TRANSFORM FORMER NEIGHBORHOOD
RIVIERA BEACH POLICE MAJOR LEADS INITIATIVE TO TRANSFORM FORMER NEIGHBORHOOD Riviera Beach, Florida - January 3, 2024 - Major Nathan Gordon of Riviera Beach Police Department is spearheading a transformative initiative to revitalize his former neighborhood. The Riviera Beach PD will launch a Community clean-up initiative on January 6th from 7am to 2pm, marking the beginning of a concerted effort to enhance the livability and safety in Riviera Beach Heights. The initiative encompasses a wide array of activities aimed at uplifting the community, including painting homes, landscaping, the removal of bulk trash, and towing derelict vehicles. Major Nathan Gordon expressed his enthusiasm for having the opportunity to effect positive change in the very community he grew up in. "This initiative is a testament to our commitment to transforming a neighborhood too often associated with crime and violence into a cleaner and safer environment," Major Gordon continues “The impact of this project fills me with an overwhelming sense of joy and nostalgia. As a child, my time spent in Riviera Beach Heights holds precious memories of playing street football with the kids in my neighborhood and shooting hoops at Sadie McCray Park.” The Riviera Beach Police Department will be temporarily blocking off the 700 block between 2nd Street and Ave. I on January 6th to facilitate the community cleanup efforts. Volunteers will be diligently working on three homes, providing services such as pressure washing, painting, and landscaping to rejuvenate the area. Pre-cleanup preparations have already been underway, including the towing of derelict vehicles and a trash amnesty day, allowing residents to dispose of bulk trash items. Community partnerships have been integral to the success of this initiative. Partners include Solid Waste Authority's Paint Your Heart Out program, The Home Depot, Unique Men, Men of Tomorrow, Christ Fellowship, City of Riviera Beach Community Redevelopment Agency, the City of Riviera Beach Community Development Corporation, The City of Riviera Beach Code Enforcement, Goode Companies, and many others. While these partnerships have been instrumental, additional collaborations are always welcome to further enhance the scope and impact of this initiative.
