FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE: CITY OF RIVIERA BEACH UNVEILS STATE-OF-THE-ART FIRE STATION 87 AND FIRST-EVER EMERGENCY OPERATIONS CENTER RIVIERA BEACH, FL. (January 21, 2025) – The City of Riviera Beach, in partnership with The City of Riviera Beach Emergency Operations Center (EOC), and Riviera Beach Fire Rescue, proudly announces the grand opening of Fire Station 87, a cutting-edge facility that marks a new chapter in emergency preparedness and community safety. Join us on Saturday, February 1, 2025, from 10:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m., as we celebrate this historic milestone. Spanning 29,837 square feet and built on a 3.335-acre site next to City Hall, Fire Station 87 stands as a beacon of innovation and resilience. Notably, it will house Riviera Beach’s first-ever Emergency Operations Center (EOC) on its second floor, a critical resource for natural and man-made disaster response. “This addition highlights our relentless dedication to disaster preparedness,” said Fire Chief John Curd. “With this top-tier facility, our highly skilled emergency management team will be equipped to conduct comprehensive assessments and coordinate life-saving operations during emergencies.”

Designed with the health and wellness of firefighters in mind, the two-story station incorporates features that promote physical health, mental wellness, and cancer prevention. Alongside its modern amenities, the station honors the proud history of Riviera Beach Fire Rescue with captivating memorabilia that pays tribute to the brave men and women who have served the community. Visitors to the grand opening will have the opportunity to explore this living tribute and learn about the heroic stories that shaped Riviera Beach’s fire rescue legacy. City Manager Jonathan Evans expressed his enthusiasm for the state-of-the-art facility, emphasizing its role in strengthening the city’s emergency response capabilities. “This groundbreaking development is a testament to our unwavering dedication to serving and protecting the fine residents of Riviera Beach,” he said. Fire Station 87 was designed and built by Kaufman Lynn Construction, the same team behind the successful construction of Fire Station 88. This $20 million project is part of Riviera Beach’s “Reimagine Riviera Beach” campaign, a transformative initiative to modernize the city’s infrastructure and services. We invite members of the media, community leaders, and residents to join us at 2799 Avenue H West, Riviera Beach, Florida, as we open the doors to this revolutionary facility.
