ATTENTION RESIDENTS: Free Chlorine Flush Starts July 1

The City of Riviera Beach Utility Special District will conduct a Free Chlorine Flush from July 1 to July 22, 2025 as part of our commitment to safe, high-quality water.

This temporary switch to free chlorine helps remove any potential bacteria and keeps our system clean. Water remains safe to drink and use during this process.

What to Expect During the Maintenance Period • You may notice a slight chlorine odor or taste, or minor discoloration in your tap water. These effects are harmless and usually temporary. Running your cold tap for several minutes can help resolve any discoloration. • if you are especially sensitive to the taste or odor of chlorine, you may maintain an open container of drinking water in your refrigerator for a few hours to allow the chlorine to dissipate. • USD staff will conduct fire hydrant flushing during this time to ensure that the free chlorinated water reaches all parts of the distribution system Riviera Beach

Water Quality and Safety During the Flush Yes. The water remains safe for all typical uses including drinking, cooking, and bathing. Any changes in taste, smell, or appearance are temporary and cosmetic. Discoloration in laundry is possible during this time. Avoid using chlorine bleach in your laundry during this time. Important Notice for Sensitive Users Individuals with sensitive water needs-such as dialysis patients, fish tank owners, or restaurant operators with aquatic systems-should consult with their service providers or manufacturers to ensure proper handling of the temporary chlorine adjustment.
