9/12/2017 - Hurricane Recovery Efforts: Sanitary OverFlow

SANITARY OVERFLOW

 

 

 

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE: September 12, 2017

 

The following information is related to a Sanitary Overflow that occurred on September 11, 2017, in Riviera Beach, Florida.

 

Date & Approximate Time: September 11, 2017 around 4:00 PM

 

Location: Lift Station #50 – 909 Avenue U

 

Description of Incident:  Utility District staff responded to a pump failure due to overload in the VFD. This overload caused the #4 pump to fail, resulting in a sanitary sewer overspill.  An 8” bypass pump will be used as a redundant pump for this station.

 

Corrective Action Taken: Emergency Response Team started corrective actions by cleaning and pumping out the catch basin and applying lime to hard surface.

 

Date & Time Affected Area Returned to Normal:  The lift station is operating.

 

NORMAL WATER AND SEWER SERVICES WERE NOT INTERRUPTED AND NO BOIL WATER NOTICE HAS BEEN ISSUED
