Happy New Year, Riviera Beach

Dear Community Stakeholders:

As we prepare to usher in a new decade and start 2020, let us be grateful for all that we have experienced in 2019 and before. The City of Riviera Beach would like to wish you and your family a happy, safe, and prosperous 2020 and beyond. As we reflect on all that we have experienced, and as we commemorate and celebrate the start of the new year, let us be mindful of some important safety factors. First, if you choose to consume alcoholic beverages, do so in a responsible manner. There are multiple applications and tools at your disposal in the event you choose to leave your home or the place where you will bring in 2020 and consume alcohol. We are all responsible for our own actions, and if you choose to partake in festivities to ring in the new year, please do so in a safe manner. As you traverse our community, please understand that law enforcement assets will be deployed to ensure that all traffic, local, state, and federal laws are obeyed.

Finally, we ask that you please refrain from celebratory gunfire; during this type of holiday, people often partake in irresponsible practices that can have horrific outcomes. Celebratory gunfire puts everyone at risk, near you or within miles of you. We ask that you help us to support and promote a “Bullet-Free Sky” and help to stop this reckless tradition that could have major consequences for both our community and others. It is important to note that the city has some of the most advanced tools available to pinpoint the location of gunfire. In addition, we ask anyone who sees someone shooting a gun in celebration of the new year to please contact your local police department immediately. Be sure to give the dispatchers the time and exact location of the gunfire. You can remain anonymous and will not have to provide your personal information, but you will need to give the specific location of the gunfire.

In closing, we wish you all a happy, safe, and productive 2020. Happy New Year, Riviera Beach!
