Executive Order 21-47 Summary
In accordance with Executive Order number 21–47, amending Executive Order 20–315 Vaccine Administration/Protecting Florida Seniors, Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis, is providing for an amendment to the existing protocols associated with the distribution of the Coronavirus (COVID-19) Vaccine. This new executive order permits for vaccines to be distributed to individuals that meet the following criteria;
• Long-term care facility residents and staff;
• Persons 65 years of age and older;
• Health care personnel with direct patient contact;
• K-12 school employees 50 years of age and older;
• Sworn law enforcement officers 50 years of age and older; and
• Firefighters 50 years of age and older.
Additionally, the executive order provides for hospital providers, physicians licensed under Florida State Statutes Chapter 458 and 459 that they may vaccinate persons who they deem to be extremely vulnerable to COVID-19. Furthermore, advanced practice registered nurses under Florida State Statute Chapter 464, vaccinate persons determined by a physician to be extremely vulnerable to COVID-19, physicians shall include a statement that the patient meets the defined eligibility criteria as established by the form prescribed by the Florida Department of Health.
In closing, this message is intended to inform residents of the Executive Order, and by no means is intended to communicate that the City of Riviera Beach is in possession of any additional vaccines at this moment.
