Major Nathan Gordon, a native of Riviera Beach, embodies the spirit of community service from his upbringing in the area to his distinguished career in law enforcement. Graduating from Palm Beach Gardens High School, Major Gordon joined the Riviera Beach Police Department on September 3, 2002, marking the beginning of a journey characterized by unwavering dedication to his community.

Starting in Road Patrol, Major Gordon swiftly demonstrated his leadership and expertise across various units, including the Vice Unit, Burglary Taskforce, and working closely with the Federal Partners Organized Crime Drug Enforcement Taskforce (OCDETF). His promotion to Sergeant of Police in 2013 further underscored his commitment to serving and protecting Riviera Beach.

Throughout his career, Major Gordon has embraced roles of increasing responsibility, including serving as the Sergeant of the Holiday Taskforce and later as the Sergeant in the Special Operations Division overseeing Criminal Investigations. Promoted to Captain of the Special Operations Division in 2016, he managed a diverse portfolio of units crucial to maintaining public safety.

Major Gordon's dedication to innovation and excellence was evident in his initiative to establish Riviera Beach's inaugural Hostage Negotiations Team in 2022. His leadership and forward-thinking approach earned him recognition and respect within the department and the community.

In 2023, Major Gordon's leadership journey continued as he assumed the role of Major of the Community Services Division. In this capacity, he oversees vital units such as the Community Oriented Policing Unit and the Beach Unit, reinforcing the department's commitment to community engagement and safety.

Major Gordon's pursuit of professional development is reflected in his educational accomplishments, including a Bachelor's Degree in Criminal Justice Administration and completion of esteemed programs such as the Southern Police Institute Administration Officer's Course and the Command Officer's Development Course.

As Major of the Community Services Division and Hostage Negotiation Commander, Major Nathan Gordon remains dedicated to serving and safeguarding the residents of Riviera Beach, embodying the principles of leadership, integrity, and community partnership.
