Police Chief Michael A. Coleman

Chief Coleman embodies the ethos of a servant leader, dedicating his adult life to inspiring others with the mantra: the more you give, the more you receive. Holding a bachelor’s degree from Barry University and a Master’s Degree in Leadership from Kaplan University, he further honed his skills at prestigious institutions like Boston University, Nova University, and the University of Louisville, specializing in senior management and executive-level training.

His journey of service began in 1986 when he enlisted in the United States Army, rising through the ranks and earning an achievement medal for valor during combat in the 1990-1991 Gulf War. Transitioning from military service to law enforcement, Chief Coleman's dedication and expertise garnered multiple accolades, including a Presidential Award for his commitment to community policing.

Notably, his leadership prowess led him leadership within the Delray Beach police department, a testament to his ability to transition seamlessly from law enforcement to community development. Recognized for his adeptness in building relationships and forging partnerships, he spearheaded initiatives ranging from housing and education to recidivism reduction, earning the city an All-America City Award for reading programs.

Outside of his career, Chief Coleman's commitment to service extends to humanitarian efforts as a Rotarian, providing support to Bahamian citizens, faith-based organizations, and orphanages through donations of school supplies, laptops, and hygiene products.

Currently serving as the Chief of Police of the Riviera Beach Police, Coleman continues to lead and develop his staff in the principles of 21st-century policing, embodying his belief that service is a lifelong commitment that extends far beyond professional endeavors.
