Major Travis Walker joined the ranks of the City of Riviera Beach Police Department on September 3, 2002, marking the beginning of a distinguished career dedicated to serving the community. Throughout his tenure, Major Walker's versatility and dedication have been evident as he has navigated through various roles within the department, demonstrating his commitment to excellence at every turn.
Starting as a Road Patrol Officer, Major Walker quickly proved himself capable and dedicated, earning recognition for his contributions. He later transitioned to the Vice Unit, where he played a pivotal role in tackling complex issues related to vice and organized crime. His involvement extended beyond local initiatives, as he served on numerous Federal, State, and Countywide Task Forces, including the Drug Enforcement Administration (DEA) Mobile Task Force and the Multi-Agency Gang Task Force (MAGTF), among others.
In 2006, Major Walker's dedication to service led him to join the City of Riviera Beach Police Department’s Special Response Team, where he has served in various capacities, including Operator, Team Leader, and his current role as Assistant Commander. Additionally, he has been an integral member of the department's Firearm Instructional Team, ensuring that officers are equipped with the necessary skills to perform their duties safely and effectively.
His exemplary performance and leadership qualities were recognized with his promotion to the rank of Sergeant of Police in 2006. Over the years, Major Walker has continued to excel in leadership roles, serving as a Patrol Division Sergeant and later as the Sergeant in the Criminal Investigation Section. In 2014, he was promoted to the rank of Police Captain, assuming leadership of the Special Operations Division, which oversees critical units such as the Criminal Investigations Section, VICE Unit, and Traffic Unit, among others.
In 2016, Major Walker's leadership capabilities were further recognized with his promotion to the rank of Police Major, where he currently serves as the Commander of the Division. In 2020, amidst departmental restructuring, he was appointed as the Commander of the Strategic Investigation Division, reflecting his strategic vision and operational acumen.
Major Walker's dedication to professional development is evident in his academic achievements. He holds a Bachelor of Science Degree in Criminal Justice and a Masters of Arts in Science in Public Administration from Florida Agricultural and Mechanical University. Additionally, he is a graduate of the prestigious 75th Southern Police Institute’s Command Offices Development Course, further enhancing his leadership skills and expertise.
Throughout his career, Major Travis Walker has garnered numerous accolades, commendations, and awards for his exemplary service to the community. His commitment to excellence and steadfast dedication to ensuring the safety and security of Riviera Beach make him a true asset to the City and its residents.
