New Police Building at the Barracuda Bay

The city of Riviera Beach is embarking on a significant infrastructure project with the construction of a new police building at the Barracuda Bay site on Blue Heron Boulevard. This development follows the demolition of the old police station at 600 West Blue Heron in May 2024. The original building, which had served the community since 1978, was no longer operational due to severe mold and structural issues caused by its age.

Currently, the police department operates out of temporary quarters in the Port Center at 2051 Martin Luther King Boulevard. This arrangement will remain in place until the new facility is completed. Recognizing the critical need for a modern and functional police headquarters, the citizens of Riviera Beach voted to approve a $35 million bond to finance the new construction.

CORE Construction was selected to build the new station. Currently, we are in the early phases of the project, known as the pre-planning programming phase. During this phase, we are identifying the needs of the agency and outlining how they will be met in the new facility. At the conclusion of this phase, the design team will provide a design and preconstruction proposal. Public meetings will be held in the near future once more project details are available.

Once construction begins, the project is anticipated to take 36 months to complete, with the building scheduled to be occupancy-ready at the end of this period. The new building will not only provide a safer and more efficient working environment for the police officers but also represent a significant investment in the safety and well-being of Riviera Beach residents. The new headquarters will be equipped with modern facilities and technology, enabling the police force to operate more effectively and respond promptly to the community’s needs.

The upcoming police building project is poised to enhance the capabilities of the local law enforcement and improve service to the community. This project marks a new chapter for the Riviera Beach Police Department, reflecting the community's commitment to maintaining a safe and secure environment for all its citizens. The state-of-the-art facility at Barracuda Bay will be a cornerstone in the city's ongoing efforts to support and strengthen its public safety infrastructure.
