Appointed members must be a resident of the city - City of Riviera Beach Code of Ordinances, Chapter 14, Sec. 14-75.

To invest and reinvest the assets of the retirement trust fund, issue drafts upon the pension fund pursuant to F.S. Ch. 185 and rules and regulations prescribed by the board of trustees, and decide all claims to relief under the board’s rules and regulations and pursuant to the provisions of F.S. Ch. 185.
